Michelle Eve - About Me

Michelle Eve

HandMade by ME started as a wonderful hobby and quickly turned into a passion.

Let me introduce myself – I am Michelle Eve (ME). I live in Wiltshire with my wonderful family and mad pets, and I stumbled across jewellery making completely by accident. My wonderful niece Amy admired an old charm bracelet I was wearing and I thought to myself I am going to make Amy a bracelet as a special surprise.

From there the mad idea turned into an amazing adventure. I started by selling my jewellery to friends (Kathy, Clare, Alan, Fay, Kirsty etc. etc. thank you so much for your help, advice and support). I then went on to do a sale at an office in Swindon, and was then accepted as a craft worker at the wonderful Living Heritage Fairs. I am now a full time artist, and craft worker, travelling the country selling my pieces and meeting lots of wonderful people.

I love anything fun and funky. My pieces are designed as one off pieces and my wonderful customers often return again and again for more and more beautiful and bizarre designs.

Inspiration comes from childhood stories of fairies, witches, wizards, and enchantment. I was encouraged to read by my dad and still love to read now. Then there were my amazing Grandparents and their wonderful flower garden that has given me a love of flora and fauna and inspired my flower bracelets.

From an early age, my wonderful Grandma would encourage me to design and create wonderful things. We collected shells at the beach and stuck them onto plant pots; we picked flowers and arranged them into lovely arrangements, and even threaded milk bottle tops onto string to scare away the birds from the raspberries. There was never an idle moment when I was with my Grandma and she taught me a lot of what I know now and for that I will be forever grateful. My Grandad was always building and making things out of wood and metal and he still is to this day the cleverest and most talented person I have ever met.

I love the Victorian Gothic Revival Era. Also there is my love of Victorian poetry and Pre-Raphaelite Art. And then there is my weird and wonderful life. I have a love of everything mystical and magical. From ancient Greek mythology (tales of love conquering evil) to the gothic ideal of un-dying love that I find so romantic.
